Why convert PNG to JPG?
JPG uses lossy compression that is very efficient for photographs and screenshots without sharp edges. Converting a PNG photo to JPG can reduce file size dramatically, often by 70–90 percent at a high quality setting that is hard to tell apart visually.
PNG is best for graphics with transparency or sharp lines like logos and screenshots of UI. For everything else — especially photos — JPG is usually the better choice for size and load speed.
A note on transparency
JPG does not support transparency. If your PNG has transparent pixels, those areas will be filled with white in the resulting JPG. The tool does this automatically so you don't end up with black or strange-looking edges. If you need to keep transparency, convert to WebP instead.
